This article talks about some of the gay pride festivals that go on in this country. They happen mainly in June which is National Gay Pride Month. In 2004 there were over 15 million people attending. The festivals are basically big carnivals/parades with dancing and celebrating. Serving as a guide for the festivities is Pride magazine. The magazine is distributed to anyone who attends this festival and is also sold in stores. This magazine includes festival information, along with maps, calenders, programs of events, etc., along with some pictures and history of these gay pride festivals around the world. This magazine takes one year to publish and has issues raised by politics, media, and arts, and has information on the past 12 months.


I think these festivals are a great way to show that there are many people in the world who care about gay rights. Not only does it show how many people support gays, but also how many people believe that they have that right to be gay. I wonder how the world reacts to this. They could argue that sexual orientation is no reason to waist all that money putting together a festival. I mean, we might as well have a Straight Pride Month. But others would disagree and say well, gays are a minority s and are greatly descriminated so they deserve an entire month to celebrate who they are. But me, i think either argument couold take the cake. I guess ill have to find out how the media views gays. We all know that it doesnt matter what the people say, it's what the media prints/shows right?.
